How do I get rid of the "shadow" from shaving my legs?

I have very dark, coarse hair on my lower legs, and although they feel smooth after I shave them, I can still see the shadlow of the hair below the surface. How do I get rid of this? Even using depilatories doesn't make my skin look hair-free, and I'm not willing to go through the trouble of waxing/epilating or permanent hair removal. Has anyone had this same problem, and found a product that helps? I've heard of hair growth deterrents, but I've never used them and I don't know if they work for dark, coarse hair.

I also have thick hair on my lower legs and arms (which I wax), but I never get the shadow effect, If I were you I wouldn't use the hair deterrents , it doesn't work I've tried many products but they never work. Try getting your legs tanned that way you can't see the shadow cos your legs will be brown and it will blend in, also try not to shave it while the hairs a still short, if you can maybe shave every 3-4 days to allow the hair to grow properly I find that helps a lot.

i think u should opt for waxing as no hair residue is left and your hair start growing after 3 weeks. but before shaving u can try a moisturiser and than start shaving!!!

do you shave comming up towrards your knee? Or downward?

The best way I have tried was, to shave downward. What I mean by that is, instead of shaving upward [starting at ankel and comming up], start at the top of your leg and go down. Make sure you use shaving cream as well.

Good luck

I have that too. I found out about Jergens Shave Minimizer Cream or something like that, but I haven't found it in any store that I've looked for it at. Then there's this Surgi Hair Stop that supposed to make your leg hair (or whatever hair i guess) finer and less noticable. After a couple weeks of use it stops hair growth. I really want it, but I can't find that anywhere! I think you can buy it online at like 2 places, that's it. Anyway I don't know if these work. I just thought I'd let you know about it. Good Luck!

Those are ingrown hairs. I had them a couple of weeks ago and this helped. I now use Aveeno shave gel for sensitive skin and Noxema razors. These help my skin to look even. This combo shaves very well and is gentle on my sensitive skin. Only shave 1-2 times per week. Hope I helped!

laser is the best option , but it's expensive.

if you fear the pain that comes with waxing get it professionally done or use the braun hair remover with the massage apparatus that relives pain or apply ice or take ibuprofen before using it. there are other more effective methods for pain but not neccesarily safe so i won't mention them .

you can also use a painfree method that helps exfoliate skin as well which is the use of abrasives like pumice rock or sand paper gloves bu it is not commonly used today

if you continue to shave your legs will feel and look like a man's chin which is not good , keep shaving for emergencies .

I have that too. try shaving alittle less and investing in a very good razer. also try a hair remover or wax, or put tanning lotionon your legs.
